September 2019 Christ Church Prayer Calendar

As we invest our lives in the Name of Jesus on behalf of our family, church, community, and the nations may we be ever conscious of our dependence on the Lord for every resource to abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8) May each prayer be a catalyst for further conversation with God.

This prayer guide employs the ACTS prayer plan: A - Adoration C – Confession T – Thanksgiving S – Supplication

“To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.” Revelation 21:6

A Day 1 – We adore you, Lord, for being merciful, generous and life giving to thirsty, needy souls.

C Day 2 – We confess that our sense of thirst for you wanes at times. Forgive us for the ways we satisfy our thirst for you with other things that don’t truly satisfy. (Name those things as they come to mind.)

T Day 3 – Thank you, Father, for your free and ever flowing gift of life that was accomplished by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ resulting in present and eternal satisfaction of our deepest spiritual longing to know and fellowship with You personally.

S Day 4 – Heavenly Father, increase my spiritual hunger and thirst. Draw me ever closer to you, and flood my dry places with the spring of the water of life. Grant me a greater capacity to love you as you desire and deserve.

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21

A Day 5 – We adore you, Lord, for your kindness and love in releasing your unimaginable power into our lives to glorify yourself in the much loved individuals and families that make up our church.

C Day 6 – We confess that we often look to our own strength for the tasks set before us and the emotions/attitudes we desire as we live out our faith as friends, married couples, parents and the community of Believers. Forgive us for not trusting in you and doubting your power to accomplish all that is in your good and eternal will for the glory of Christ Jesus.

T Day 7 – Thank you, Lord, for all of the ways you have worked in us to bring forth our salvation and that of others in our lives. By your power, you have been all sufficient for our good and your glory. For the many unseen and unrecognized acts of kindness accomplished by you on our behalf, we sincerely thank you.

S Day 8 – Please, Lord, would you, in mercy, bring salvation to those whom we love: family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers. By your power at work in us, give us creative initiative to partner with you in your activity around us. Grow and strengthen your church, we pray.

“But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf,” Jer. 28:10

“The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16

A Day 9 – We adore you and praise you, Lord, for your steadfast love and faithfulness. Your perfectly wise leadership and counsel bring forth blessing to all mankind.

C Day 10 – We confess that we easily slip into self-centeredness and prayerlessness, forgetting and neglecting to seek the welfare of our city. Forgive us for and root out the sin in our lives that has kept us from leading a life on mission.

T Day 11 – Thank you for the promise that our prayers are not a wasted effort, but actually accomplish much. As we pray for the welfare of our city, we thank you that you will hear and answer.

S Day 12 – Dear Lord would you increase our burden for our city. We ask that our love and growth in the Gospel would produce a desire to see others saved and grow in their love and understanding of who God is, what He has done and what He is doing. May the gospel be boldly proclaimed and many trust Christ for salvation in Knoxville.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!” Psalm 33:12

“Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.” Psalm 33:20-22

A Day 13 — Almighty God, honor and glory are yours! Your steadfast love is our hope at this time in the history of our nation. Our gladness comes from you who brings help and protection for your people

C Day 14 — We confess that our nation has strayed far from you, seeking to fulfill its selfish, sinful and prideful desires in ways that oppose your loving, perfect leadership. Oh God, forgive us for ways that we have ignored, isolated from, or compromised with the encroaching darkness.

T Day 15 — Thank you, Lord, that you are merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. We as a nation deserve your wrath; thank you for your mercy and patience.

S Day 16 — We are desperate, Sovereign God of Heaven, for you to intervene in our nation to bring forth your justice and righteousness in this land. Awaken the church to more fervent, sacrificial love and devotion to you and your ways. We groan at the death, perversion and arrogance that surrounds us. How long, Oh Lord? Enable us to courageously and lovingly stand with you while compassionately inviting others to find true life through Jesus Christ.

“Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! Psalm 33:8

“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’” Matthew 9:37

A Day 17 — King of Kings and Lord of Lords, your name is exalted in Heaven and Earth! The whole earth is full of your glory to those who have eyes to see!

C Day 18 — Savior and Lord, we confess that many on the face of the earth have turned their back on you rather than stand in awe of your glory. Forgive us for our lack of faithfulness to pray regularly and earnestly for laborers to be sent into your harvest. We confess distraction and hesitation in our obedience to the Great Commission. Forgive us.

T Day 19 — Thank you, Lord, for countless men, women and children that you have redeemed across the earth that fear and worship you. Thank you, too, for the faithful laborers who have given their time, whether a little or a lifetime, to make disciples. It is by your gracious hand that lives are delivered from the domain of darkness into your glorious kingdom.

S Day 20 — “Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession” Psalm 2:8. Lord, we do ask you to make the nations your inheritance. Bring forth many laborers to partner with you in the harvest proclaiming salvation in Jesus to perishing souls. Raise up a host of worshippers of the Most High God in every nation, tribe, language and people! Increase our longing to see and participate in the nations trusting Christ for salvation and adoring him forever!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6,7

A Day 21 — How can it be that One such as you, transcendent in beauty, majesty, power, wisdom and love would be attentive to the cares of created creatures such as us? We adore you for your unsurpassed initiative to care for your creation, especially humans created in your image.

C Day 22 — We confess, Lord, that we do become anxious, worrying that the matters of our lives will not go as we desire. We fear, manipulate, overwork, or “numb out” instead of trusting you and receiving your gift of peace. Forgive us, Lord.

T Day 23 — Thank you, dear Father, for desiring that we be at peace. You bear our burdens and calm our troubled hearts. When our minds are tempted to run wild, you set up a guard. Thank you for caring perfectly for every need and circumstance. Your ways are higher than our ways.

S Day 24 — You know, Father, our temptation to be anxious, but today we address to you our many cares and requests. (Specifically ask the Lord for his attention and action regarding your concerns) We thank you for your good and perfect action and answers on our behalf. Enable us to partake in the shalom of God, the all-encompassing peace that surpasses understanding.

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11

“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn which shines brighter and brighter until full day.” Proverbs 4:18

A Day 25 — You are adored, Lord God, for your abounding love in revealing the path of life which grows brighter and brighter until you are seen face to face, full day! The perfection of all that is good is found in you. Glory! Glory! Glory!

C Day 26 — We confess that our gaze often drops to lesser, unworthy spectacles robbing us of the joy that you delight to give us. Forgive us for unbelief, the thief of joy and life, a dishonor to your character.

T Day 27 — How incredibly grateful we are for eternal life, fullness of joy and pleasures forever!! Lord, you have filled our lives with increasing light, pushing back the darkness! Thank you for your astounding blessing!!

S Day 28 — Father God, make these verses more than theory in our lives, make them a reality. For your honor and glory, may we truly be the most joyful people on earth. Accomplish this in us, we pray!

“One thing have I asked of the LORD ,that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.” Psalm 27:4

“You have said, ‘Seek my face.’ My heart says to you ‘Your face, Lord, do I seek.’” Psalm 27:8

Day 29 — You, O Lord, delight to fellowship with us! Make us ever mindful in our daily lives that you are always, lovingly present with us; that truth is a stunning, joyous reality. Ignite our hearts to seek your face always!

Day 30 — Thank you for the community of Believers, the Bride of Christ, who seek after and gaze upon the beauty of the Lord together. May we with hearts of one accord dwell in the house of the Lord partnering with our King to fill the earth with his glory.
